ALBANY ? Junior guard D.J. Irving scored 11 first half points to help Boston University to a 32-30 lead over UAlbany in a America East Conference basketball game Wednesday night at Chase Gym.

Irving made three of four shots from 3-point range; as a team the Terriers were 6-14 from long range.

Trailing 16-12 with 9:40 left in the half, the Terriers went on a 11-0 run to take a 23-16 lead with 6:17 left. The Danes clawed back to trail by just two at the break. Sam Rowley led the way with 10 points and a four assists, which ties his career high.

Guard Mike Black added seven points, but was hit with back-to-back offensive fouls and sat the final four minutes of the half on the bench.

Junior forward Gary Johnson made his first career start for the Danes, taking Peter Hooley?s spot (concussion) in the lineup. Hooley, who is also not expected to play Saturday in the Danes BracketBuster game at Fairfield, did not make the trip to Boston. Johnson scored two points ? two free throws ? in his 18 minutes in the first half.
